Theories of culture and representation focus on operations called "representations",
which form the core of human cultural activities, and study art and cultural events.
This intensive course gives an overview over the purpose of the theory of culture and representation, as well as discussing and explaining concrete case studies with a focus
on art genres related to "representation" such as music and theater, ranging widely from
Japanese classical theater to contemporary Asian drama. The lecture also deals
with research at the forefront of critical theory.
