Putting bridge between Asian countries
Last November, I had great chance to visit Tokyo University being invited as a student panel for BESETOHA. It was unforgettable trip I’ve ever been to, where I met sincere friends and exchange opinions about Asian culture and current issue; some of them still keep in touch by e-mail. All Japanese panels hearty volunteering as city guide brought us Kimono store, Sushi bar, Kabuki Theater, etc, and there we can get known about Japanese culture and thoughts. It was really good time for all student panels putting bridge between Asian countries for understand each other more deeply.
Discussing Asian solution against environmental problem
The 3rd day we listened special lecture provided by the professors from four countries, and after we discussed Asian tradition and ways to counteract environmental pollution in student session. Each country’s panel had the opportunity to give presentation and all views were really fresh and passionate. It was much more meaningful because panels researched what is our tradition and what “students” really can do. Through this session I became assured that there really is “Asian value” because lots of concepts and views we had in common.
Draw the future of Asian community, opened and peacefully coexisting
Even we were born and growing in different nations, in future we will live together and cooperate for coexistence. BESETOHA showed me the possibility we can make open and peaceful community beginning from this continent, as Asian countries had long history interchanging mutually, flourishing each distinct culture, while sharing values such as Confucianism, sustainable environment and society. This is exactly the attitude we need to have now, keeping own identity but opening to the world and learning ways to live and let live all together. I appreciate Todai(Tokyo University ; Japanese panels taught us this abbreviation!) again for giving this valuable experience to me.
