Intensive Lecture on Culture and Representation at Nanjing University 2008

Theories of culture and representation focus on operations called "representations", which form the core of human cultural activities, and study art and cultural phenomena. This intensive course gives an overview over the purpose of the theory of culture and representation, as well as discussing and explaining concrete case studies with a focus on art genres related to "representation" such as cinema, music and theater, ranging widely from the West and Russia to Asia. The lecture also deals with research at the forefront of current critical theory.
